Antman starts in 1989, when scientist Hank Pym walks into a S.H.I.E.L.D meeting with Howard Stark, Mitchell Carlson, and Peggy Carter, where they try to replicate his shrinking formula. Pym is outraged by their attempt, and he resigns from S.H.I.E.L.D while vowing to hide his formula forever.
We jump forward to the present day where Scott Lang is being released from prison and subsequently gets a job at Baskin Robbins, only to soon get fired when his boss finds out he is a reformed criminal. He goes home and talks to his roommate and former cellmate, Luis, who tries to get him to join him in some illegal activities.
Pym’s company, Pym Technologies, is now being led by Darren Cross and Pym’s daughter Hope. Cross has made a suit called the Yellow Jacket, a weaponized suit utilizing Pym’s shrinking technology. Cross wants to make an army of Yellow Jacket suits in order to get more power.
Meanwhile, Lang cannot find a job so he decides to join Luis’ gang and steal from Pym’s basement, where he finds Pym’s suit. The audience discovers that Pym is actually watching Lang do this, and he allows Lang to leave with the suit, which he puts on and then presses the red button. This causes him to shrink, and Pym talks to him, explaining the Ant-Man suit. Pym convinces Lang to steal the Yellow Jacket suit and destroy the data about it. However, Cross finds a way to shrink organic tissue and is able to move forward with his plans.

Lang is given a second chance at life to be with his daughter and be a profitable human being; however, the roadbacks he faces along the way discourage him.
As humans, we are given a new chance at life every day that we are alive. We may consider ourselves a screw up or believe that we did something wrong during the day; however, we are always capable of change and to stop doing the things we believe were a mistake. When we identify and rectify our past mistakes, we can then progress in a positive way.
Pym and his daughter Hope begin to train Lang for his mission. Lang learns how to control and fly on ants. While training Lang, Hope learns that her mother also had a suit and acted as “The Wasp” but was lost when she went subatomic during a mission. When they think he is ready, Lang is sent on a trail errand to obtain a signal decoy device that is needed for the mission, which is located at the Avengers headquarters. When he arrives, he is met by Falcon and they fight; Antman destroys Falcon’s suit and steals the device needed.
The Pyms, Lang, and Luis go to the Pym Technologies building to stop Cross from selling the Yellow Jacket suit to Hydra, who have infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D (as we learned in Captain America: Winter Soldier). The computers are wiped out, and the building is destroyed. Cross gets away with the Yellow Jacket suit and puts it on to seek revenge by going after Lang’s daughter Cassie. Lang shrinks to a subatomic size to defeat the Yellow Jacket and succeeds; he is almost lost, but when he hears his daughter’s voice he is able to find the strength and returns to atomic, or full human size. Lang is later invited by Falcon to join the Avengers. Pym and Hope have reconciled fully, and Pym offers her an upgraded version of the Wasp suit.
With his second chance, Lang decides to continue helping others as Antman.
Once we have another chance to progress, like Scott Lang, we can take actions to continue our progress. These actions could include advancing in our knowledge and education to help solve a societal issue in our community or to assist in addressing the issues of another individual. We can also pursue these actions in order to attain self-growth. Some other actions we can do include using our creative and artistic talents to bring joy to others, and to bring ourselves peace of mind.
