This episode kicks off in the 80s, where Wanda and Vision are adjusting to being new parents. These new roles are even more difficult because their children, Tommy and Billy, have the ability to age themselves on command. Further, the sitcom is beginning to unravel. Agnes asks Wanda “Do you want me to take that again?” (aka do the scene again). This demonstrates that Wanda is losing control over Westview, and that Agnes may know more than we thought. Before Vision can confront Wanda about what Agnes meant, Tommy and Billy age up from babies to 5 years old. Agnes also seems strangely unsurprised by this development.

Back at S.W.O.R.D., agent Monica Rambeau provides a report on her time in Westview. She believes Wanda to be in full control of everyone in the “Hex”. She also shares that she experienced a great deal of grief and pain while under Wanda’s influence. S.W.O.R.D. uses this information as an excuse to launch an attack on Wanda. This only results in her anger, and she warns them not to interfere with her town again.

Back in the “Hex”, Vision starts to realize that something isn’t right and confronts Wanda. She tries to end the fight by starting the sitcom’s “end credits” but Vision is undeterred, leading to a standoff where both are ready to use their powers and fight. They aren’t able to resolve their argument, however, as a knock at the door interrupts them. Wanda opens the door and is shocked to find her brother Pietro before her. However, it is Peter Maximoff, a.k.a. Quicksilver, from X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse.

Grief and pain can cause us to make choices we never would have before.

Will we make choices to face our grief or choices to hide it? Wanda herself explains to Tommy and Billy during the episode that “We can’t reverse death, no matter how sad it makes us.” However, she has used her powers to do just that, and she has gone against Vision’s own wishes in order to resurrect him and save herself from the pain of losing him. Although she is able to mask her grief for now, it is inevitable that she will have to face this pain. As we continue through the season, we will find out if she faces it head on willingly or if it is forced upon her.
